Capital d’expérience

An experienced and approachable team

We built and ran companies before investing in anyone else’s.

How the team is organised

Michael brings a combined set of experiences to Capital d'Experience across both investing and operations. Having started his career in investment banking at TD Bank before moving into private equity investing at TorQuest Partners, Michael then transitioned into a more operational role as CFO of Polycor, a global dimensional stone producer. These past roles have provided Michael with a diverse skillset across M&A and financing execution, but also a strong appreciation for what it means to actually work in day-to-day operations and the challenges facing management. These perspectives remain top of mind for Michael as Managing Director of Capital d'Experience.

Our mission

To build long-term engines of growth that respect capital and people, while contributing to the progress of society.

Our values

Integrity in business

Being fair and transparent in one’s actions and relationships, particularly in difficult situations.

Integrity in business — 1

It is a line.
Invisible to some.
Uncrossable to others.

Integrity in business — 2

You never see it.
Until the day it is missing.

And then, too late, it is all you see.

Humanity in business

Sharing experience rather than keeping it, and treating people as the part of a company that lasts longest.

Humanity in business — 1

Power and force impress for a moment.
Human presence remains.
For a long time.

Humanity in business — 2

Shared experience turns mistakes and successes into leverage for building trust. For building companies that last, and that are humane.

Because entrepreneurship is, before anything else, a human undertaking.

Quiet strength in business

Holding the course over time without needing to occupy the stage, particularly when being noticed would be easier.

Quiet strength in business — 1

It is not “less”.

It is everything.
Without the noise.

Quiet strength in business — 2

It did not impose itself.
It stayed.

It held.
And in the end,
it was all anyone could see.
