What information we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what your rights are.

1. Person responsible for the protection of personal information

In accordance with the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, Capital d’expérience Inc. has designated a person in charge:

We collect only what our activities require.

  • What you send us — name, role, company, email, phone, and the content of your messages.
  • What relates to reviewing a file — financial and operational information about a company, provided by an owner or their advisor.
  • Server logs — IP address, date, page requested, browser. Like any web server, the one hosting this site records the visits it receives. This is necessary to run it and to keep it secure, and it exists independently of your browser.

Through this site we never ask for banking details, a social insurance number or a password.

  • Answering your enquiries and corresponding with you.
  • Reviewing an investment opportunity submitted to us.
  • Meeting our legal and regulatory obligations.

Nothing collected here is used for commercial prospecting or targeted advertising. We do not send a newsletter.

4. Confidentiality of files

Information relating to a company or an investment project is strictly confidential. It is accessible only to the partners and, where applicable, to professional advisors engaged on the file. It is disclosed to a co-investor or a third party only with the prior written consent of the person concerned.

5. Disclosure to third parties

We do not sell, rent or trade any personal information. Disclosure occurs only:

  • with your express consent;
  • to our technical service providers, limited to what is necessary and bound by confidentiality;
  • where required by law or by a competent authority.

The information you send us is hosted and processed in Quebec. No transfer outside Quebec takes place.

6. Retention

  • Enquiries with no follow-up: 24 months
  • Investment files not pursued: 36 months
  • Files that led to a transaction: 6 years, the period for which the Canada Revenue Agency requires books and records to be kept after the end of the last tax year they relate to.
  • Applications: 24 months

7. Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own, writes nothing to your browser’s storage and does not measure its audience. It calls one outside service only: the Google map of the office, on the Contact page, and it loads with the page. Google therefore receives your IP address as soon as you open that page, and may set its own cookies, under its terms and not ours.

It is the only place on this site where that happens. The office address is written in plain text just above the map: the map is never necessary. No other page on this site makes a request to a third party.

This site shows you no consent banner: it sets no tracker of its own.

8. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to information is restricted to those who need it, protected by authentication, and our service providers are contractually bound to confidentiality.

9. Your rights

You may at any time access the information we hold about you, request its correction, withdraw your consent, request its deletion or that we cease disseminating it, and file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

Send your request to the person named in section 1. We respond within a maximum of 30 days.

10. Confidentiality incidents

In the event of an incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we notify the individuals concerned and the Commission d’accès à l’information, and we keep the register required by law.

Any change to this policy is published on this page, with the date it was updated.
